Programme
A world in black and white, almost! Experiences as a part-time autodidact artist in printmaking and beyond.
Anneke Walch works mainly in printmaking and drawing, with some recent excursions into painting and sculpture. She enjoys to sketch on the spot, landscapes, trees, the occasional animal or human. More than looking, drawing is an active search to understand and to capture the essence of a place.
Working in relief techniques, finding the marks that lend themselves to this binary game in black and white, Anneke likes the straightforward gesture – cut, don’t cut, there is nothing in between. The absence of color in most works, for her, is a conscious decision, a graphic play of lines and surfaces, that allows her to express the character of a place.
Anneke exhibits her prints with Empreinte, and has shown other work at Salon du CAL and others. As secretary of Empreinte she plays a vital part in the organisation of its events and manages Empreinte’s Artistst in residence program.
